Characters listed in no
particular order. Characters may or may not have already appeared in the
story. I will do my best to keep this guide from revealing important
parts of the story. All names written the way they would be written in
Dalth (and most English-speaking countries in the real world). In Loryh
and Seoan, last names are spoken first (like in Japan). Use Ctrl-F
(find) to search for a specific name.
Tarey Runa-Re/Tarey
Runa-Se:
(Terry Roon-uhh-Ray/Say)
The main character. An emigrant girl from Reann-Oll who grew up with
her father and brothers in Thurniam, Dalth. Blond hair, green eyes. She
isn't extremely confident but will finish any task to the best of her
ability. She is an adaptable young lady who puts a lot of value in
family and friends. She believes in kindness and community. She is a
loving, supportive, and protective friend. Tarey loves to dance the
traditional dances of Reann-Oll and has interest in many other
traditional customs.
Aneli (Princess) Tenloa:
(ON-uh-lee Ten-LOW-uhh)
A princess of Reann-Oll who dies of poisoning while newly engaged to
a foreign prince. The marriage is needed as an alliance between Loryh
and Dalth. She looks exactly like Tarey.
Ceneu Runa-Re:
(Sen-ae-oo Roon-uhh-Ray)
Tarey's oldest brother. He is six years older than she is. He has blond
hair and green eyes. He falls in love with a girl named Yilie.
Malihnei Runa-Re:
(Mahhl-eh-nay Roon-uhh-ray)
Tarey's other older brother. He is only two years older than she is.
He shares her intense love for dance and nature.
Yilie Runa-Re:
(YEEL-ee)
Ceneu's wife.
Malihnei Runa-Re:
(Mahhl-eh-nay Roon-uhh-ray)
Yes, there is another Malihnei. He is Ceneu and Yilie's son.
Piarli Latarne-Re:
(Pee-ARR-lee Luh-TARN-ay-Ray)
Tarey's childhood friend in Thurniam. She has curly red hair and
brown eyes. Her father is from Seoan. She was born in Reann-Oll and
moved to Thurniam before Tarey's family.
Natashe Latarne-Re:
(NAH-tuh-shay Luh-TARN-ay-Ray)
Piarli's Reann-Oll mother. She is very kind to Tarey and taught her
some complicated dances.
Anuka Ishu-Re:
(ON-oo-kuh EE-shoe-Ray)
Tarey's second childhood friend. Her mother was raised in the Loryhu
equivalent of a convent and is very beautiful. Anuka inherited her
mother's figure and her father's light brown hair and blue eyes. She
moved to Thurniam years after Tarey and eventually takes advantage of
her beauty.
Nunet Erru Riomare-Dn:
(AIR-oo Ree-oh-MAR-ay-Dn)
Erru is similar to the equivalent of a missionary. He is dedicated
to religion but is not out to convert people. His other devotion is
justice and he is an elected governor of the Loryhu section of Thurniam
- a nunet.
He wins them the right to celebrate the Spring Equinox, a huge holiday.
Anelu (Prince) Junrol
Yumah-An:
(ON-ay-loo Jun-rahl You-maa-On)
A prince of Seoan. One of his older brothers went missing a number
of years ago and this fueled what was then a few sparks of conflict
between Loryh and Seoan. He is engaged to Aneli Tenloa.
Ribol Kintay-DAn:
(Ree-BOWL KIN-tay-don)
An ambassador of Reann-Oll. He is the king's nephew. He manages
lineage charts and, when necessary, tracks down the closest relatives of
the royal family. He is a kind man, but very business-like. He holds his
duties over his compassion.
Omeia:
(Oh-MAY-uhh)
A young prostitute that travels on ships as a kitchen girl.
Tula:
(TOO-luh)
A pirate. She is Empian's wife and is the cook of the ship
Alivida. She is outspoken and strong but very motherly. She
considers Tarey her adopted daughter.
Empian:
(EM-pee-ahn)
Tula's husband and the Alivida's captain. He is understanding
but expects his orders to be followed at all costs. He considers Tarey
his adopted daughter.
Soliei:
(SEW-lee-ae)
A young boy about eight years old. He was found orphaned at around
age five and was adopted by Tula and Empian. He is a dark and quiet boy
that doesn't talk much and prefers to be alone.
Diembar:
(Dee-EMM-bar)
The Alivida's navigator. He's good friends with Tula and Empian
and gets along with pretty much everyone. Although he's got a great
sense of direction he can still make stupid mistakes.
Nida:
(KNEE-duh)
An outspoken female sailor on the Alivida. She is very smart
through experience and understands people and how they think and feel.
Saina:
(SIGH-nuh)
An orphan girl the Alivida has kept on board. She is silent and seems
traumatized to some level, but is remarkably good at taking care of injured
or sick people.
Baisneali, Reanui,
Hilaryh, Zanite, and Dyfli:
(BAYS-knee-al-ee, REE-on-oo-ee, HILL-uhh-rye, ZAH-knee-tay, and
DIE-flee)
These five girls are Aneli Tenloa's friends. They're basically her
ladies-in-waiting. More on them when chapter two is completed. And don't
say Zanite like it's Zan-ight. It's three syllables!
Opriya Harpe-To:
(oh-PREE-yuh HAR-pay-Toh)
Harpe-To doesn't have an actual first name, but he is an opriya of
Lorual-Oll - he advises the ruling prince of the island. He is a very formal
man who takes his job very seriously. He is also in love with etiquette and
is extremely traditional.
