Sakura and I
have been going out for a month. Sakura is going under a lot of pressure
to get good grades and to take care of herself. Living alone is hard.
She works two jobs and attended college. For our anniversary, I’m taking
Sakura to a big party thrown by one of our classmates and then out to an
expensive restaurant. I hope she can relax for just a little while. "We’re here Sakura," I said with a smile. Sakura grinned back at me and kissed me on the cheek before we got out of my car. We held hands as we walked into the huge mansion of our classmate, and my cousin, Meilin. For a while we just hung out and danced, but then Sakura seemed distracted and she excused herself to go to the bathroom. While I waited, Meilin came up to me, very distressed. "Syaoran, you have to help me! They’re doing heroin in the guestroom. You have to help me get them out of here. This is supposed to be a clean party – no drugs or alcohol!" she shouted. I followed her upstairs to the guestroom. There were about twenty people hanging around in the room, and at least seven were passed out. I went back downstairs and returned with a bunch of people willing to drive their intoxicated classmates home. We started dragging them out. Once everyone was out I did one last check around the room. I opened the closet door and I almost screamed. There, lying on the floor unconscious was Sakura. Her skin was red and hot when I touched her. When I picked her up she stirred and looked up at me with her eyes half open. "What’s up Syaollann?" she tried to say. "I’m taking you home, you’re sick," I told her. "Don’t worry. I’m not used to th... th china cat yets," she replied. China cat? Oh right. I remember vaguely in health class that we’d talked about the street slang for drugs. ‘China cat’ was slang for high-potency heroin. "Come on, Sakura. I’m taking you home." "I’m all right, I swear." "Stop it Sakura. If you don’t stop taking heroin, I’m afraid our relationship won’t last." "Yer bein’ silly…" she said drowsily. I knew she was going to pass out again. I carried her into my car and drove her to the hospital. That was four months ago. Now Sakura is better, she’s not a heroin addict anymore. But I remember when she went through withdrawal and how horrible it was. She thanked me afterwards. We’re still dating. She likes to sing, and she’s working on a song. This is the first verse:
It don't hurt like it did. I went over to Sakura’s
apartment, but she was asleep. I went inside and waited for her to wake
up. I was looking around the room and I noticed a large porcelain cat. A
Chinese-style cat. I walked over to it suspiciously when Sakura came out
of her room yawning. She froze mid-yawn and ran to me. It don't hurt like it did
